Good Stuff ....

So,I was in the kitchen making cookies to bring to Taylor at Pepperdine. No,I don't regularly just pop out bake goods to Malibu but she needs a computer cable and I thought I would bring her out something yummy to eat as long as I was going. It actually kills two birds with one stone. You see, Miss Zoey just LOVES being out and about.I am running out of things to do in the mornings.I have been a regular at Starbucks for 4 mornings running and my wallet and my waistline are not digging that.Target is also a favorite destination but again it would be my wallet, as well as my husband that are none to happy about that particular habit. The park is really a no go.She can't really do anything there and it just frustrates her that she can't just get down and roll all over.so no park. This morning a car ride and maybe a walk on the beach will satisfy the little love.

On to my main reason to post. Not a huge deal to some but to me,to us,I was just tickled to see this:Zoey was watching Sesame Street, she loves Sesame Street almost as much as Raffi.Almost.Anyway,I look over at her at one point and her shoe had come off.Probably from just kicking her foot and it not being tied tight enough.I figured I'd put it back on when we were ready to walk out the door.A few minutes later I notice that her orthotic is off and her sock!I was like,"Way to go Zoey".It meant that she had to have pulled off the Velcro, which is usually fairly snug, take off the orthotic and pull off her sock ... all with one little hand.I just thought ... you know, this is the magic, the simple things, this is the good stuff that I rejoice in and find so darn amazing.Just had to share.

My daughter wears those same AFO's.

PS. We don't usually go to the park either.

I've tried taking her & other children say to her: come on, etc. etc. and she just looks at them and smiles & the other children don't understand why Emily isn't racing to the top of the steps with them.

I'm pretty sure the parents is wondering the same thing.... I just let them wonder. hehe

You and Zoey are MORE than welcome to come spend a morning at the Epstein house! I bet Cassidy and Zoey would have fun playing/interacting with eachother. You and I could have some coffee. She is at school MWF in the am, but T/TH, we are usually around. And if it is MWF that works better for you guys...I would LOVE visitors!

Great job Zoey!!! You look very proud of yourself, and you should be!

What kind of AFO's are those...they look easier to use than Gavin's...maybe not, but they look like it.

Have a fun trip and visit! Love, Hugs and Prayers!!!

Awesome Zoey! And I love the fact that she loves Raffi. And I just have to say...my brother Chris...born with Downs...LOVED Raffi...one of his MOST favorite things in the world was listening to Raffi!!! (Chris passed away from his heart condition when I was in my 2nd yr of college) It just brings a smile to my face to read about Zoey:~)

way to go miss zoey on ripping those orthotics off! i can't say i blame you. ;)

and, heather, i'm just trying to catch up on some recent posts. i am very happy to see life is mundane. lol. and very saddened by the events that transpired with your relatives.

i, too, try to keep my blog a place of positivity and focus on henry. but sometimes there are things that need to be said. sometimes i feel like i do have a job to educate, sometimes i feel the need for support in a bad time, whatever the case sometimes it's not all sunshine and rainbows.

it's sad that your own family can't respect you...sounds like they don't respect much.

hang in there. i'm loving all the pics of miss zoey as always!!!

Yep it's those little things. Stops us in our tracks. I love it.

This is Joyce. I just can't believe our New York connection!!! My grandparents owned the hardware store in Sidney from 1965 until 1980. I spent all my summers there. My grandfather was also the fire chief in Sidney for many years and I often would go with him to parades in the area, so I know it well, especially Endicott, Owego, Chengo Bridge. Some of my favorite memories are canoeing down the Susquehanna River. If you ever want a glimpse of the scenery at the bottom of our blog is "other blogs I follow" and the one called Plants and Stones is my dad's brother who bought a beautiful piece of land up in the hills near Mt. Upton. Their blog is all about the land, birds, and waterways in the area.

It's really the small things that brighten our days and make our lives so fulfilling. I love how she's holding up her orthotics as if to show someone "up there" look what I can do!!! Isn't it so exciting when they suddenly out of the blue show us just how amazing they are
I love how her orthotic fit into her shoe, practically invisible when she has her shoes on. I wish i had the same for Saira, her's are separate shoes in themselves, and naturally very visible.

LOVE IT! Zoey is progressing in so many ways! And the story about Joe in the crib is precious. I adore watching your 2 boys interact with Zoey. Never a trace of jealousy - they are always gentle, patient and loving. You have the most beautiful family, inside and out.
