It Has Arrived ...

Miss Zoey is the proud new owner of a cool raspberry colored Rifton walker. And ... she liked it.But not at first. The minute she spied her therapist Patty and the contraption that accompanied her, well,Zoey proceeded to bury her head in my lap and hold on tight to my neck,I mean seriously tight, when I tried to introduce her to her new "friend".But she warmed up and actually seemed to like it.At least for the few minutes here and there that we had her in it.For now we are such trying to get her slowly acquainted with it.We don't want to overwhelm her right off the bat.The last thing we want is for her to go kicking and screaming each time we go to use it.And for now the slow go of it method seems to be working.Quite well in fact.Tonight we tried her in it again, wish we had the camera out because she was so darn cute.Mark and Jess,Taylor and the boys, all sat in front of her, while I was behind her.We would say,"Stand up Zoey" and she would straighten those little legs and smile this huge smile and we would clap and she would clap and it was just a really sweet 5 or 10 minutes. And in that brief time, I realized once again, that I was in the presence of another new beginning for Zoey. This walker represents so much. From independence and autonomy,to the ability to interact with her peers and her family at and with a whole new vantage point.Exciting stuff for my little love.

So Miss Zoey, the world is waiting for you baby girl. Now go out there and get it.Grab it and hold tight to it with those darling little fingers. It's gonna be a beautiful ride.
