Oh Miss Zoey ...

How Miss Zoey dislikes things in her hair.Clip,pig-tails,headbands ... all a no go.And each day I attempt. And each day Miss Zoey has other ideas. What's a mom to do?Do you see this girls hair?Crazy hair on some day's and then I remind myself.Zoey barely lost a strand of hair during chemo so to that I say ... bring on the crazy hair!!!

I managed to capture the little stinker during her removal of her clip this morning. She was quite please with herself. If you look real close,in the corner of the picture there is the clip, after being flung across the room!I also captured her newest sign ... "beautiful'.Of course an approximation for her but nonetheless a purposeful sign. The sign is done while circling your face with 5-hand closing to palm in a flat "o".I personally LOVE Zoey's version.

Another note on signing. Her speech therapist came on Wednesday.Katie is incredible. We love her and she loves Zoey.she was so pleased with Zoey's progress.Katie went home and watched the video I posted and here was her comment. It made me cry and to you Katie,we say that we think you are beautiful and we are so very blessed to have you in our lives. In Zoey's life. How will we ever be able to let you go when Zoey turns three?

"OK, now I'm in tears again after seeing this video. I realize I cried today at therapy when I saw that Zoey has learned many new signs (horse, fish, cow, pig, smart, thank you, beautiful) just since I totaled them up last. She now has 41 signs! My favorite part is that her emerging ability to communicate allows her personality to shine for all to see. And Heather, YOU are doing it all. I'm there to guide but you are the one making it happen, day after day. It's your dedication and the beautiful way you interact with Zoey that has brought her to this point. And it's only just begun...she will blow us all away...

Love to you all, Katie"

Gosh I see that and I want to pick her up and twirl her around the room...to sweet that girl is! I have to say sign language was huge with Kyle! When he started to sign it was such a break through! Our favorite was help...oh my when he got that one it was like the light bulb went off!

Zoey looks like a beautiful, mischevious little girl. So what if her hair is wild? You would never dream she has been through so much, but her personality is really starting to show in her pics.

Kayla hates things in her hair, too. I bought all these pretty bows and clips from a friend of mine and she won't wear them at all. At least now she'll keep a pony or piggie tail in, thanks to her new school!

As you said on my blog...we love every "bad" thing that they do because they are doing things!!I just sent Michelle and Emily an email telling them that they need to drive down together the same time Lacey's comes so we can all celebrate Zoey's birthday!!

She looks so cute in those pictures, so grown up, like a little lady. Good job with the signing Zoey! and good job Heather with all the teaching. You guys are great.

Oh my goodness, for the most part, my girls know not to mess with their hair unless they want an unhappy mama. LOL - is that bad? Poor things. Since Payton had a ton of hair since birth, I think she is used to having her hair messed with. And Nika, well -- she just listens and goes with the flow. Maybe she is happy to have someone finally doing her hair. LOL! Have you tried those clear, little rubber band hair ties. Some of them are way too stretchy, but the one brand they have at Target work the best! I have tried them all. LOL!

Sounds like you have an amazing ST! I was SO sad when we lost ours recently ... seriously, we loved her. We are waiting for the new one to start and I feel bad for her because she has a lot to live up to in my eyes! LOL.

Great job signing Zoey! I love the video ... I think I need to vow to do more video ... it is just a pain in the butt. LOL.

We have got to get these girls together. Ivey pulls those bows out; I put them right back in. I decided that was my battle with her. After two boys, I am dying for her to wear bows.

I didn't realize that y'all were working on signing too. Ivey underst'ands more signs than she is capable of putting out. "Beautiful" is one she does understand. Since Ivey is blind, everyone has a certain 'thing' they sign to her when they greet her. My sign is always 'mama's beautiful girl'. She will smile even in the loudest places. It comforts her. I sign all three words on her face. SWeet.sweet.sweet.
Have a great day miss Zoey!

Congratulations! Keep up the great work!
Zoey knows more sign language than a lot of people. Wow! All I know is "I Love You" & "Jesus". ;-)

Quite an accomplishment that little Miss Zoey has achieved. Forty-one signs and taking the clip out of her hair. And that smile of hers says it all..."I'm taking on the world so you'd better watch out". Love it.

Big sigh! The whole hair, barette, clippy thing leaves me frazzled in my home! Pres or Mikah won't have a thing to do with them!
What an amazing feat, 41 signs... HUGE!

So funny! Her expressions are priceless...you know exactly what she is thinking. lol

I keep my 18 month old great niece Mon-Fri and she really doesn't like anything in her hair. As soon as you are not looking...down it comes.
