This past Friday,we headed down to Anaheim. Our day trip to Disneyland,A.K.A,"The Happiest Place on Earth" was courtesy of my very sweet friend Summer.Summer was given 5 complimentary tickets, park hopper's at that, but was unable to use them and she in turn bequeathed them to us.And,for anyone that doesn't know, just to give you an idea,a day trip like that for the 6 of us that went, would have set us back a cool $500.00 plus dollars, just for the tickets through the gates ... yikes!!!So thanks to Summer's generosity,we went for just a fraction of that.
Now, the title of my post is bit inaccurate.Zoey did love some aspects of the day.She LOVED the crowds. She LOVED the parade, as well as any other music that we happened upon and she absolutely LOVED watching her brothers run wild. What she so did not like and border line hated and was terrified of,no joke, was:any ride, including the tram ride to and from the parking structure and the characters!
"Um,mom, could you please get these giant mice away from me"(You can almost see the tension in her body, as she is literally holding on to Matt for dear life.!)
Yep,folks, thus the reason we did not choose a Disney World trip as her Make A Wish.Would she love the things I first mentioned?Yes.But that trip would not have been for her and we were adamant that her Wish reflect her and be strictly all about her.A Wish that she would wish for as if she could tell us herself.More on that as June approaches.Don't you like the way I am leaving you hanging?
We really did have a great time.Taylor wasn't able to go because she had an orientation for her summer job.She will be working full time as a camp counselor, all summer long, 40 hours a week, saving all her pennies because our girl is studying abroad all next year in Lausanne,Switzerland at the Pepperdine campus there.Lucky girl.We will miss her terribly but what an awesome experience this is going to be for her.Poor thing, two "field trips" scheduled while she is there, one to Egypt and the other to Greece.Life is tough all over, wouldn't you say?Seriously though,we are so excited for her.As for Mark,he couldn't get the day off.So, as it seems to go all too often,we played while he worked hard so we COULD play.
The boys had a blast.Matt and Jess did as well. And the little miss? She was such a good, good girl.A super long day.Complete with every 2 hour g-tube feedings. In and out of the stroller AND,in late breaking news,we have been potty training and I took her portable seat with us and she was so cooperative about going all the time.More on that topic in another post ... it is seriously worthy of a post of it's own.She was happy and engaged and never, not once, cried or fussed. She stayed awake the entire day and didn't pass out till we hit the road to head home. She won the title of "trooper of the day".Put the rest of us to shame. But then again, what else is new?
So that is a bit of what we have been up to.Feels like there is so much more to catch you up on and there probably is but for now,I'll leave it at this and I leave you with some pictures from the day.
Have g-tube,will travel ..

What an awesome gift! The pictures are terrific! The ever smiling Miss Z! (except for those HUGE MICE & rides) Thank you Summer from Aunt Bluebelle. What an amazing gift!
Love the photo of Miss Z and her "special guy" Matt...she does love all the men in her life! Matt, Danny, brothers Joe & Jake and of course her Daddy!

Hugs to everyone
Bluebelle
Love, love, LOVE the pics. Your kiddos are too funny and too stinkin' cute. Glad you had a blast!
xxxx
I'm so jealous!
Those giant mice kind-of freak me out a little too. Ha! Ha!
It looks like you had a great time. Thank you for sharing those photos.
I think that "Home" is the happiest place on earth. Have another great day!
What a fun day! She looks like Minnie in red and white polka dots!
I feel you, Zoey. The characters freak me out too. Actually, pretty much everything about Disneyland freaks me out, so you're really a few steps ahead of me.
I don't know how you do it, Heather. I am determined that my children not find out about Disneyland until they can drive themselves there. Where do you find the energy and patience?
Love your pictures. Can't believe how mature Zoey looks and all the new kid stuff she's accomplishing like nobody's business! What a long, long way she's come since I started following your blog.
Oh Heather, this post made me so happy. What a generous gift from Summer. And to see you all at Disneyland instead of in the hospital - just makes me smile from the bottom of my heart!
Christy Pinuelas
Ray should be happy he got his pictures! Looks like a fantastic day. Man I want to be on Matts shoulders for the parades, you would be able to see everything!
Wish we could have joined you. Of all the fridays, that was the ONE that we had something going on. Oh well.....hopefully another time (maybe when the Rugg's are in town). That is the most generous gift that Summer passed your way. Amazing!!! Zoey and Ella would be great together at Disneyland as Ella didn't like the characters AT ALL and didn't care for the rides either...although she didn't mind the tram ride. Hope to see you soon.
Lucky! Hope y'all have lots of fun!
Great post!!! Love the Zoey!!
How wonderful!
Heather,
So happy to see your family having such an amazing day at Disney! How special! I love reading your blog and seeing how loving and supportive your family is. I can tell that your happiest times are when you have your entire family gathered in one place.
I wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart for including a link to a beautiful blog on your last post. If it weren't for that link, I would never have found that blog and not have read the most amazing and heartfelt touching post ever. It reached out to my aching soul and lifted me up in ways that no one else could ever since embarking on this extra special journey with my daughter.
I cannot express enough how much Kelle and her Poppa's words have helped me and guided my heart to a place of peace.
If you haven't yet read the post to which I am referring to , it is called "The Corridor" and this is a direct link to it:

THANK YOU again , Heather!
And, keep enjoying your special and amazing family. Miss Zoey is just ever so precious, and every time I see her photo, I just want to reach out and squeeze those adorable cheeks!!
Hugs,
Brittanie
How wonderful for someone to give you the gift of Disneyland! It is ridiculus crazy how expensive it is to go there...we have not been since my 15 yr old turned 8...we will go again when the little one is older and can enjoy it more!
Thank you for sharing those wonderful pics. Looks like a great time was had. Amazing how big
( and beautiful) Miss Zoey is getting these days. We are certainly enjoying watching her grow!!
