"Only if you have been in the deepest valley, can you ever know how magnificent it is to be on the highest mountain."~Richard M Nixon

Eighteen months ago today, our journey with leukemia began. An entire year and a half.Feels like a lifetime ago and then,on some days, feels like only yesterday.I think I prefer to look at it as a lifetime ago, seems much more comfortable to put time and distance between us and most especially Zoey, and cancer.

Today I picked Zoey up at school. Her 3rd full week completed.I lifted that courageous, tiny body of her's from that darling train she rides in.I set her on the ground as she signed "sit" and pointed, which is her way of letting you know she wants to get from one place to another.I watched her roll and scoot her way to the other children, her new beautiful friends, that were running about the front of the school, as the other mom's and I stood and chatted.I looked at her backpack and her green stained hands from finger painting and I rejoiced.

Eighteen months later and the view, from my vantage, is truly magnificent.

What a joyful post. I pictured the entire event in my mind. I think it is so sweet that she enjoys being with her friends already. It makes me excited to watch as Ella gets to do that next year.

Yipee, she is just getting cuter and cuter every day. I thought she was diagnosed in October? Maybe I'm dreaming! Ray told me he is impatiently waiting for a Zoey post!

Congratulations, Heather - and Zoe of course. Such a big milestone.

Heather, as Zoe can now communicate clearly that she wants to move and where she wants to go, it might be time to start thinking about powerchairs... cos the one thing better than having her delivered to you on that adorable little train will be having her come meet you and run circles around you all on her own.
