Sweet Ella,Mr.Joel and Charlotte ... all in one day!

Yesterday I packed up the car and headed down south to visit with little Ella and Denise.

Traffic was a bit to be desired there and back but Mark knows the freeways here in LA like the back of his hand, and I was able to miss some of the worst of it but really, traffic or no traffic, I wouldn't have missed yesterday for the world. Not only did I get to sit and visit with Denise and Ella, towards the end of our visit, the very darling Joel and his family stopped by as well.Talk about a cutie.Oh my gosh ... could have eaten him right up.As well as his big brother Caleb.Caleb is so handsome. He has these dancing blue eyes and in those eyes, for the little bit of time I spent with him, I could see his patience and gentleness. What a gift Joel and Caleb are to each other.

And to end the day,Caitlin,Danny and Charlotte drove a little over an hour from San Diego and we met for dinner right down the street from the hospital. What a nice, unexpected addition to the already wonderful day.

I brought Zoey's infamous mode of transportation while she battled AML last year, down to Ella:her pink car.

As I was walking into the hospital, and pushing that car, this wave of anxiety came over me.Not anxiety remembering this journey we took not so long ago but rather this anxiety or maybe it was a tinge of anger, that the very sweet and the very precious Ella must walk this road as well. And Denise. And Joe.And the girls. It is not anxiety or anger based in fear because I KNOW that Ella can do this. They all can.I just wish they didn't have to.We love you Vollmer family ... we will all do this together.

How nice that everyone got to meet. I'm sure it was a huge comfort for Denise. The pics of the kids are ADORABLE. Heather, you have such a big heart, and you are such a dear friend. Denise and Ella (and the rest of the Vollmer crew) are so lucky to have you. Thanks for always keeping us posted on Ella! Continued prayers for our sweet Ella!!

It looks and sounds like it was a wonderful visit and well worth the hassle of the traffic. Connections that are truly priceless.

I hate it that Ella has to walk down this road as well, but right now I guess all we can do is be right there as pillars of support for Denise, exactly that which you are doing. It's so wonderful that you could go and visit, like you said not so wonderful the reason for the visit but the fact that you could be there and be a shoulder to lean on, I know it must be so comforting so Denise.

You sound like you had a full day of cuteness and what a special way to end it by seeing your little darling Charlotte. Hugs and love to Zoey :)

It was so nice to meet you Heather! I loved this post and what you said about Caleb. It is so true - he is so patient and gentle. He is a great brother to Joel and we are so thankful for both of our boys!

You are an amazing support to Denise and I just know that God had a hand in bringing the two of you together!

Thank you for visiting Ella. She is such a trooper.

Brook has the same car. I wonder if Doernbeckers would want it? I'll take it tomorrow when I go. Your so full of good idea's :)
