Oh,this littlest child of mine ....

Well it looks as if Miss Zoey may be saying farewell to naps.Much to this mommas dismay. We are currently on day 5 of fighting the nap thing.I figure,at this point,I am ahead of the game, seeing that every other child of mine, were done with day time siesta's by 2 years of age.The thing is,I really think she still needs a nap for her tiny body but to have her scream and cry is not worth it.Not to mention the carnage of dolls and stuffed animals that I find thrown out of her crib.Which cracks me up.Her side rail is high, sleigh bed height and she only has one arm to hurl them with, not to mention she does it from the sitting position!I watch her on the video monitor sometimes and just stand there and giggle. So I have decided that if we can manage to squeeze in a nap or two, here and there, she'll be fine. The flip side, she is out like a light by 7pm.

Explanation on the video:

Last night,at about 6,I decided to get the video camera out to film Zoey's animal sounds which happen to be bear, elephant and lion... they oddly sound very similar, imagine that! She added a new one to her repertoire recently and that is cow.Really cute and a whole different sound.Well, two things went wrong with my plan. One, she was running on fumes and not at all in the mood to perform and two, lately,Zoey is so not cooperative when she knows I am taken a picture or video taping. She is absolutely fixated on viewing the finished product. She LOVES watching videos on the computer of all our little buddies,or of her siblings or of herself, which makes documenting her antics, very difficult.Animal sounds were a bust last night but what we did capture was Zoey's patent, sink eye or cut to he quick, dirty look.Earlier Jess had been putting her hair up and Zoey was full of looks and then we realized she actually understood, what a dirty look was,she kept doing it over and over!Too funny. So without further adieu,Zoey's dirty look ....

Oh that dirty look is a crack up! Ugh can't believe your kids gave up their naps so early. Hoping Alayna holds out until close to when Aidan did at 4 1/2 =)

I totally cracked up here at work when she gave the dirty look!!! LOL, that girl is a trip! I recognize that "running on fumes" attitude, too.

I'm so sorry to hear about the naps, though. Wow, we have learned that Sammi can definitely function on no nap, but even she likes her naps and will willingly go up to bed to sleep. We are still quite grateful for them. I keep hearing about people whose children are steadily outgrowing their naps.

I love the Zoey videos, and that she wants so much to watch them afterwards! Sammi was insistent like that until she figured out that there won't even be a video until she lets us take one! LOL

Oh my gosh...I LOVE that dirty look!! That is the funniest thing I have seen in a long time. Joe's mom was trying to get Ella to wink and it kind of reminded me of that but Zoey definitely has some serious attitude in her dirty look. Way to go Zoey!! We can hear animal sounds anytime!!

Too funny!! Addy tried Moo, wasn't quite right and just signed the other animals but her Bye Bye Zoey were clear as day!

That dirty look is awesome!! I love that she not only understands what it means but knows how to use it!! She has such a great little (well, maybe not so little LOL) attitude!! I am sorry about losing the naps, that is always a rough transition, but I am sure the traumatized dolls and stuffed animals will thank you. Although it must be a great OT work out for her to chuck them out of the crib! :)

Heather, I've not visited your blog in ages, though I used to be a regular during Zoey's ordeal with leukemia. The way she kept smiling through all she had to endure was and is amazing! She's brilliant! I'm writing to tell you about an online support group I recently discovered for parents of language-delayed children. You can check it out at: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/communicating/
It's not about an expensive program, pricey speech therapy tools, or oral motor exercises. It's an old fashioned, common sense approach to helping our children unlock the world of communication. Dr. James D. MacDonald has been working with language-delayed children for almost 40 years and has helped many parents unlock the world of communication for their children. Join the group, read the posts, introduce yourself and Zoey and tell what she can do as far as sounds she can make and how she communicates. Dr. Jim himself will give you advice how to bring out more of what is already there within Zoey. Blessings! Anna K.

You know, I'm dying to meet Miss Zooey. She's hilarious -- what a character! And your son is adorable, too -- I love the little movie.

I love the dirty look!

Claire is working on moving to one nap instead of 2. So far it's going ok as her 1 nap is longer than her 2 naps combined, but she can still be quite grumpy by bedtime.
