Another birthday,a tug at your heart,magical moment and a can't miss,new word video ...

We have 4 of the 6 children with birthdays all within a month of each other ... as of Monday,3 down, one to go.Jake hit the double digit milestone this past week.Hard to believe. Our first boy.The oldest of the second set,as we refer to the spacing of our kids.Always fun to watch people check us out when we are all out and about together. You can see it in their faces, trying to figure out the dynamics,is it hers, his and theirs? Some ask.Other times I offer.. same crazy husband that has stuck with me for 24 years. An explanation always ensues:3 girls.2 years apart. My tubes tied after the third.A regret.A tubal reversal and viola ... 3 more gifts. The youngest of which, the amazing Miss Z, we say was what we had been waiting for all along.

Jake,our gentle,sometimes serious,always sweet,fiercely loving and smart beyond smart,beautiful boy.Incredible child,whom I feel blessed to have been entrusted with.

Hates having his picture taken but,if you know me,you'll know where he gets this from.

Loves his guitar.Has learned "Smoke on the Water" and "Wanted Dead or Alive" this week.Literally had a guitar in his hands since he was a tiny toddler. Will be so cool to revisit those early videos one day.

This was the scene Jess and I came upon earlier this week.Joe needed to do his reading homework and unbeknownst to us,he went and got his book and wandered out to Zoey to multitask.Stood there for at least 10 minutes, both content as could be ... is that not the most precious sight ever?

And finally,if you're still with me,Zoey's new word.Entirely impossible to capture her on video lately. She is way too interested in watching the finished product and rarely cooperates for the camera, still photos and otherwise. But,the other day,I had her "otherwise occupied" and she was distracted long enough to get a minute or so on tape. This word popped up in the last week or so.She doesn't always use her new word in the right context, infact she seldom does, but it is so darn cute and clear as a bell! And,although Zoey has a wide range of signs and now a word or two in her vocabulary, she still is most fond of her loud and get your attention, grunting,as witnessed at the end of the video!

Love it!!! Now she can tell you "NO" to everything!! I am really starting to see some language development there :)

Once again, that Zoey kills me with her cuteness. How fantastic that her words are coming along, and what's more important than the word NO? Happy Birthday, too, to your beautiful other children. I adore that photo of Jake and Zoey. I wish that your boys and mine could meet one another --

You make me want to have more kids. I'd just need someone to cook for them and do their laundry!

Absolutely adorable on all three fronts.... Happy double digits to Jake, great job with homework and Zoey, Joe, and I think she uses that word quite appropriately Heather- looks like you won't be escaping all the NO"s that are part and parcel of potty training! Enjoy~

Love, love the photos of Joe reading his book in the yard with Miss "Z".

"hi" and "No"! Great job Zoey Grace!

And Jake - you know "the apple does not fall far from the tree" statement Heather? You're right - Jake follows his mom on photo taking! But, you're getting much better Heather. Nice cake big sister Jess! Hard to believe sweet, gentle Jake is 10!

Potty training? No way! We aren't even close to making the attempt. Congrats on that in and of itself, and for the rest. Holy...um...well, I'll censor myself HERE at least.

So very cute. I think it's really cool how you have the older set and the younger set. It just seems to work really well with your family.

I love love love the brother/sister picture. Love how it just feels better to be near his sister-no talking necessary, just knowing she's there. How sweet. I'll have to watch the video another time-it's not showing on my phone, but happy for Zoey that she can tell you no-that's a pretty good word to know!! Love all of you. And huge happy birthday to big double digit man in the house!

Oh Heather!

Your sweet girl is SO special to me. I see and maybe cling a bit to my "might have been". I always end up in tears, tears for how incredibly special she is.
Our family dynamics are very similar... 7 people ages that range from our oldest daughters 24 and 21 to the 2nd set at 10,8, and our miracle baby Kendall at 3. People ALWAYS stare and you know they are trying to figure out who belongs to who..... lol I love to keep them guessing. We also have 5 birthdays in 4 weeks.... actually 3 of them are in 4 days. Needless to say by the end we are "caked out". Your pictures posts and comments on my blog always touch my heart. Your a very special woman and I treasure knowing you.
