How does one wee warrior spend the morning of her 5th birthday? Much like she had to 5 years ago. Working hard. But this time, this time it was an entirely different kind of work and it was done with an absolutely radiant smile. Zoey spent the morning with her therapist Christian, whom she adores and if you ask her if she loves him, she makes this little shy look, drops her head to her shoulder, smiles and says " ooohhh". So darn cute. We are off to Starbucks, where we will people watch. One of Zoey's most favorite things to do. Then to our favorite little bookstore. And well, after that, who knows. We will just enjoy the day. Soaking it in for all that it is and all that it is, is simply beautiful.

Precious, precious, precious. I can see, in my mind, Zoey's shy acknowledgement of her love for Christian, and it makes me giggle. Little girl crushes are sooo sweet. Happy, happy birthday, radiant princess in pink.

Oh, she is lovely.
When my daughter was 5 she wanted to marry my brother-in-law. She proposed often. I guess she eventually felt jilted because she is 14 now and no longer asks.
