Gratitude. Day 5. Music ..

I spent more time out of the house today, then in it. Thus the squeaking in of my gratitude post just before the sun goes down. Today I spent most of my day in and out of the car to be exact. Picking up. Dropping off. Errands and, well, you get the idea. Just busy. While tooling around in the the car, I listened to music. Loudly. As I usually do. Ask my husband. Who will go to drive my car, turns on the radio and nearly jumps out of his skin. Some of what I listen to is on my iPod, some from satellite radio, some from local stations that I have come to accept but not love, since the departure of my beloved Mark and Brian here in Los Angeles. But that is an entirely different subject.

Anyway, today it is about music. My love of it. All kinds infact. And my gratitude for it. How listening to certain types, certain genres, can move me and heal me and transport me. Music reminds me of some wonderful, wild and carefree days, as well as some of the harder and heavier times. Times some might be tempted to forget, but for me, a much needed reminder of how far I have come.

There were a number of songs that came on today, that I smiled and remembered a moment in time. That happens a lot The other day I actually texted one of my friends back east after listening to a particular song. Letting her know I was thinking of her and missed talking to her. See, music can be magic. At least it felt that way today.

A few songs that stayed with me today.

LOVE! I was just talking to Aidan tonight about how important music is to me and I know I will be jamming during chemo to drown the hours away!

"Music can be magic" - brilliant and so true! I would hate to know a life without music. So would Josie! Does Zoey like music?

I saw Bob Marley in concert the year or so before he died and I was about fifteen years old. I still remember how WILD and amazing he was, his head swinging around with that glorious hair --
