Post Thanksgiving ...

It was an interesting day. Had a nice little twist thrown in. Just to keep us all on our toes. But as usual, every one stepped in and stepped up and the day, considering the myriad of emotions that flowed in and out of all of our moments, it was as good of a Thanksgiving as we could have hoped for. Maybe, dare I say, even better.

Now it is on to the next first and this one, this one is going to be tough. As our Christmases have always, since I have been a little girl, as long back as I can remember, have been fraught with traditions. Beautiful traditions that began and maybe out of necessity, will have ended, with my mom. But we propel forward. Even when the pain of a memory, stop us in our tracks.. We move on to the next day, the next event. We have found that it is usually the anticipation of the upcoming day, that is the most difficult but once the day arrives, the said birthday or holiday, oddly and perhaps with the most amazing grace, we are okay. Sad, of course. Hurting, most definitely. Hurting mostly for a man that walks about his days wearing this invisible cloak of grief. A grief that we really and truly are not able to ease. But we are, at the end of the day, when all is said and done, we are okay. We just have to be. For her.

Happy thanksgiving to you and your beautiful family. I imagine it was a difficult one as you mourned the presence of your mother -- may you be comforted by one another and by your good memories.

Big hugs. Time will ease the pain for you and your dad. You will always miss her, but that raw intense pain will dissipate. Your entire family is such a blessing to your dad. He will look back and appreciate and cherish how you helped him get through this time. And you will continue the beautiful traditions of your mom and add new ones as your family continues to grow, and all the while she will be with you.
